Attend this free webinar on Wednesday, March 27 from 8:00 am to 9:00 am (Washington, D.C. local time) to learn more about popular incentives governments can put in place to encourage the development of green buildings. Governments can adopt from a wide variety of incentives – some of which are cost-free – to stimulate green building growth. Property tax incentives, height bonuses and expedited permitting are among the most effective ways to make green design economically viable for developers. In addition to incentivizing the market, governments can endorse a green building certification system such as EDGE, embedding it in the building permitting process.
During the webinar, we’ll share examples of national and municipal level incentives for green buildings in Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia and Peru. We’ll also share the top 10 ways to promote green building growth. Finally, we’ll explore an in-depth case study of Pune, India where the municipal government is allowing extra floor area ratio for buildings certified with EDGE, GRIHA, IGBC or LEED.
The webinar will be led by Rusmir Musić, the Global Business Development Lead for EDGE, with a case study presented by GBCI. The webinar is co-sponsored by the World Resources Institute Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, which partners with IFC through the Building Efficiency Accelerator program.
