For over four decades, Calucé Senior Living has provided long-term care for seniors and people with disabilities in Chía outside of Bogotá. To continue in its tradition of providing the best care to its patients, Calucé Senior Living is building a new and improved facility, which will have 116 rooms and 19 operated apartments. Residents will enjoy a chapel, hairdresser, gym, dining room, terrace and lounge.
Calucé Senior Living will utilize resource-efficient design features and technologies to reduce its environmental impact and save on operating costs. Energy-saving lighting, a variable refrigerant volume (VRV) cooling system and an energy-efficient boiler for hot water generation will reduce the building’s energy use, while water-efficient plumbing fixtures and dual-flush water closets will reduce the building’s water use. Special attention will also be paid to the preservation of vegetation on the property during the construction of the new facility.
The new retirement home is being developed by Grupo Contempo, a real-estate firm committed to developing buildings that conserve natural resources and generate operational savings. Through its buildings, Grupo Contempo shows that resource efficiency is good for the planet and for business.
Calucé Senior Living has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from CAMACOL.
