Casa Colmenar is a rest cabin in the city Huamantla, in the state of Tlaxcala. The house was designed for high energy efficiency, reduced water consumption and the collection and reuse of 100% of the rooftop rainwater. Casa Colmenar was developed by Soler y Palau.
Casa Colmenar has received final EDGE Advanced certification from GBCI.
Technical Solutions
Energy
Reduced window to wall ratio, insulation of roof, insulation of external walls, energy efficient, refrigerators and clothes washing machines, energy-saving light bulbs – internal spaces, energy-saving light bulbs – external spaces and sensible heat recovery from exhaust air – efficiency.
Water
Low-flow showerheads, low-flow faucets for kitchen sinks, low-flow faucets for washbasins, single flush for water closets and rainwater harvesting system.
Materials
Internal walls – cement fibre boards on metal studs, external walls – re-use of existing wall, floor slabs – re-use of existing floorslab, roof construction – re-use of existing roof, flooring – laminated wooden flooring and window frames – UPVC.
