Caxton House
Caxton House is a 3-story office building located in the Central Business District of Nairobi, Kenya. The project consists of a retrofit, making use of most elements of the existing building with renovations to meet the EDGE standard. Caxton house was renovated under the auspices of Sayani Investments Ltd., a local real estate investment company.
The project undertook a renovation of all electrical and plumbing systems introducing efficient lighting, solar photovoltaic power generation and efficient flush/flow plumbing fixtures. By re-using most existing building features such as floor and roof construction, as well as external and internal walls, Caxton House was able to achieve substantial reductions in the energy embodied in construction materials, thereby yielding a more sustainable construction project and a reduced carbon footprint.
Caxton House has received Final EDGE Certification from Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI).
