Digistics, a leading supply chain group in South Africa, is opening a new facility at Equites Property Fund’s Meadowview industrial park. Situated next to the N3 highway in Johannesburg, Meadowview can accommodate development opportunities ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 square meters.
Resource-efficient design and technologies will be incorporated into the Digistics’ warehouse to reduce its environmental impact. LED lighting, reflective paint, and solar photovoltaics will be installed to reduce the warehouse’s energy use, while auto shut-off faucets and water-efficient plumbing fixtures will be installed to reduce the warehouse’s water use. The resource efficiency of the warehouse is a manifestation of Digistics’ commitment to lower the carbon footprint of its operations.
Equites Property Fund, the developer of the industrial park, is committed to incorporating sustainable practices into its developments. Equites Property Fund has also EDGE-certified the Altron warehouse at Meadowview and the Premier Foods warehouse at its Lords View development.
Equites Park Meadowview – Digistics has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from GBCI.
Predicted Savings of EDGE Certification
Less Embodied Energy in Materials
Reduced window-to-wall ratio, reflective paint/tiles for the roof, low-E coated glass, solar photovoltaics, and energy-saving lighting in sales, corridors, common, and external areas.
Aerators and auto shut-off faucets and water-efficient flush water closets and urinals.
Concrete filler slab for the floor, steel sheets on steel rafters for the roof, precast concrete panels and steel profiles cladding for external walls, and finished concrete flooring.
*Part of the energy efficiency percentage may be associated with virtual energy for comfort depending on the presence of heating and cooling systems. Note that virtual energy does not contribute savings to utility bills.
