GRUPAK Corrugado Hidalgo – Oficinas

Grupak, a Mexican company with more than 60 years in the corrugated cardboard packaging and paper industry, has opened a new corrugated packaging plant in Hidalgo. The plant includes more than 2,500 square meters of office space.

Resource-efficient design and technologies were incorporated into the plant’s offices to reduce their energy and water usage. The technologies include higher thermal performance glass, an energy-efficient cooling system, LED lighting, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and a black water treatment and recycling system.

The offices are aligned with Grupak’s commitment to sustainable operations and to the care of the environment and available natural resources. Grupak extends this commitment to their products, offering high quality and one hundred percent recyclable goods. The company’s operations system also aligns with the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) scheme, which guarantees their commitment to environmental management. Grupak also operates in Cuernavaca (corrugated paper and packaging plant), Toluca (corrugated packaging plant), Hidalgo (paper and corrugated packaging plant), and with six suppliers for the collection of recycled fiber and offices corporations in Mexico City.

Energy

Reduced window to wall ratio, reflective paint/tiles for the roof, higher thermal performance glass, a variable refrigerant volume (VRV) cooling system, energy-saving lighting in internal and external spaces, and occupancy sensors.

Water

Water-efficient water closets and urinals, low-flow faucets in bathrooms, and a black water treatment and recycling system.

Materials

In-situ reinforced concrete slab for the floor, composite in-situ concrete and steel deck for the roof, plasterboards on metal studs for internal and external walls, and medium weight hollow concrete blocks for internal walls.

*Part of the energy efficiency percentage may be associated with virtual energy for comfort depending on the presence of heating and cooling systems. Note that virtual energy does not contribute savings to utility bills.
