House of Breeze
The House of Breeze prioritizes the comfort of its residents through a resource-efficient living space that minimizes its impact on the environment. The developer of the home, CAT Design and Build, designed the home with its location and immediate surrounding environment in mind. Since the three-bedroom home sits on a busy street in Ho Chi Minh City, with buildings on either side, CAT Design and Build installed a skylight on the roof to bring natural daylight into the two-story home. By using passive design solutions, such as smaller windows and external shading devices, residents are expected to reduce their energy consumption by more than half.
These green features were implemented at no additional cost and are expected to cut residents’ utility bills by half. The resource-efficient design has fully met the expectations of the residents who wish to live in a comfortable living space while lowering their carbon footprint. The House of Breeze has received final EDGE certification from SGS Vietnam.
Predicted Savings of EDGE Certification
Energy Savings*
Water Savings
Less Embodied Energy in Materials
Technical Solutions
Energy
Reduced window to wall ratio, external shading devices, variable refrigerant volume (VRV) cooling system and energy-saving lighting.
Water
Low-flow showerheads and faucets and dual flush water closets.
Materials
Controlled use of concrete for floor slabs and roof construction and cored (with holes) bricks with internal and external plaster for internal and external walls.
*Part of the energy efficiency percentage may be associated with virtual energy for comfort depending on the presence of heating and cooling systems. Note that virtual energy does not contribute savings to utility bills.
