Situated in the vibrant city of Ibagué, known as the “musical city of Colombia,” the Infinity residential complex contains one, two and three-bedroom units. Infinity is conveniently located on the Golden Mile near schools, shopping complexes and hospitals, and will also have retail space on its ground level. The spacious apartments come with an outdoor pool, BBQ areas, fitness center, social room, and recreational areas for guests to enjoy the outdoors.
The developers of the project, Habitat de Los Andes, sought to construct the homes with a minimal impact on the surrounding environment. The result is an opportunity for residents to lower their environmental footprint without sacrificing quality. The building has external shading devices to naturally conserve energy and cool the apartments without needing air-conditioning, while each unit has low-flow showerheads and faucets to reduce water consumption. Construction materials also save embodied energy in materials with the controlled use of concrete and honeycomb clay blocks.
During construction, Habitat de Los Andes also adopted sustainable practices to ensure minimal environmental impact, including solid waste management, construction waste recycling, soil protection and the reuse of rainwater throughout the construction process. Habitat de Los Andes creates contemporary spaces throughout Ibagué that are both sustainable and innovative. The developer, which is also responsible for the EDGE-certified Caminos de Provvidenza, is committed to “elevating the levels” of the musical city of Ibagué. Infinity has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from CAMACOL.
Predicted Savings of EDGE Certification
Less Embodied Energy in Materials
External shading devices, energy-saving lighting and lighting controls for corridors and staircases.
Low-flow showerheads, low-flow faucets for kitchens and bathrooms and dual flush water closets.
In-situ trough concrete floor and roof construction, controlled use of concrete for external walls and honeycomb clay blocks with plaster on both sides for internals walls.
*Part of the energy efficiency percentage may be associated with virtual energy for comfort depending on the presence of heating and cooling systems. Note that virtual energy does not contribute savings to utility bills.
