Metro Myanmar, a warehouse in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone outside Yangon, offers food service distribution for hotels, restaurants, catering firms, and independent small retailers.
Aligned with METRO Wholesale Myanmar’s commitment to lowering its environmental impact, the warehouse utilizes resource-efficient design features and technologies. An energy-efficient air conditioning system, insulation, LED lighting, and low-flow plumbing fixtures are used to reduce the building’s energy and water use.
As the first EDGE-certified building in Myanmar, the warehouse allows METRO Wholesale Myanmar to take a leading position in promoting green building standards in the country.
Metro Myanmar has received final EDGE certification from thinkstep-SGS.
Technical Solutions
Energy
Reduced window-to-wall ratio, insulation of the roof and external walls, a variable refrigerant volume (VRV) cooling system, and energy-saving lighting in the sales area.
Water
Dual-flush water closets and water-efficient urinals.
Materials
In-situ reinforced concrete slab for the floor, steel sheets on steel rafters for the roof, plasterboards on metal studs with insulation for the internal walls, and steel-clad sandwich panel for the external walls.
