Viviendas Pareada Las Brisas is a two-home complex in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. The one and three-bedroom single-family homes provide privacy to their homeowners. The homes are also surrounded with ample green space where the homeowners can connect with nature.
The homes were designed to conserve natural resources, helping residents save on utilities and live more environmentally friendly lifestyles. Solar photovoltaics, reflective paint, external shading devices, energy-efficient appliances, and low-flow plumbing fixtures were installed to reduce the homes’ energy and water usage.
Habite Arquitectura designed Viviendas Pareada Las Brisas to serve as an example of resource efficiency in the housing sector in Bolivia, demonstrating how green homes can benefit the environment and the homeowner.
Viviendas Pareada Las Brisas has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from GBCI.
Technical Solutions
Energy
Reduced window to wall ratio, reflective paint/tiles for the roof, external shading devices, insulation of the roof and external walls, higher thermal performance glass, a variable refrigerant volume (VRV) cooling system, energy efficient appliances, solar photovoltaics, energy-saving lighting in internal and external spaces, and lighting controls for corridors and staircases.
Water
Dual-flush water closets and low-flow showerheads and faucets for kitchen sinks and washbasins.
Materials
Concrete filler slab with Polystyrene blocks for the floor and roof, 3-D wire panel wih ‘shot-crete’ on both sides for internal and external walls, ceramic tile flooring, and UPBC window frames.
