Edificio Paimun is a 16-unit apartment complex in Quilmes, Buenos Aires. The building will feature a terrace, swimming pool and solarium.

The apartments were designed to conserve natural resources using solar hot water collectors, an inverter split cooling system, solar photovoltaics, LED lighting, a rainwater harvesting system, low-flow plumbing fixtures and more. Residents will benefit from the building’s energy and water savings with lower utility costs.

Edificio Paimun was designed by architecture firm Estudio Nietzel and developed by VAT Propiedades. The project has received an EDGE Advanced certificate from GBCI.

Escuela Infantil Puerto Madero

Escuela Infantil Puerto Madero, located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from GBCI.

Escuela Infantil Puerto Madero


As the first public preschool for children in the Puerto Madero neighborhood, Escuela Infantil Puerto Madero provides children with a playful, green space to learn. In addition to standard subjects, students in the preschool are also taught about the need to protect and care for the environment. Developed by Corporación Antiguo Puerto Madero (CPM), a state-run corporation owned in equal parts by the national government of Argentina and the City of Buenos Aires, the school represents the city’s commitment to its sustainable development.

Situated along the waterfront of the city, Puerto Madero once existed as a largely abandoned former railroad zone with decaying buildings. Today, the neighborhood has undergone a rapid transformation as part of Buenos Aires’ urban renewal project. Puerto Madero now draws both tourists and locals as new businesses, homes, public parks and a revitalized waterfront have made the neighborhood a destination.

Built in tandem with the growing population of the Puerto Madero neighborhood, the Escuela Infantil Puerto Madero school conserves natural resources and minimizes carbon emissions. The school is expected to reduce its energy use by nearly 60% with energy-saving lighting and natural ventilation for the classrooms, which will dramatically improve thermal comfort for the students, providing a better learning environment. Other features such as water-efficient landscaping conserve water, while construction materials such as steel sheets on steel rafters for the roof reduce the embodied energy in materials. These pragmatic design measures were implemented with no incremental costs or payback period for CPM and will ultimately result in utility savings.

The Escuela Infantil Puerto Madero has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from GBCI.

INTROVA Eco Housing

Introva Eco Housing, located in Córdoba, Argentina, has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from GBCI.

INTROVA Eco Housing


At INTROVA Eco Housing, residents can enjoy the natural environment surrounding their homes as well as access to the nearby shops, schools, hospitals and business centers. The neighborhood has a peaceful atmosphere with wide streets and open green space but is only minutes from the city of Córdoba. Each three-bedroom home has reflective paint and insulation for the walls and roof to help conserve energy, while dual flush water closets help reduce water usage. The homes save 66% of embodied energy in materials by using less concrete, cellular light weight concrete blocks for external walls and more. The interior of the homes will be built using a dry construction technique, allowing residents to customize their space once they have chosen their home. Dry construction techniques are lighter than traditional bricks, take less time to install and are more environmentally-friendly.

Housing de Miradores

Housing de Miradores


Located south of Córdoba in the Manantiales neighborhood, Housing de Miradores offers residents a peaceful escape from the busy city. Translated as “Housing of Viewpoints,” Housing de Miradores lives up to its name. The residential complex overlooks La Cañada Park and is surrounded by lush green landscape. Of the 144 homes in the neighborhood, two have been EDGE-certified.

The developer of Housing de Miradores, Grupo Edisur, has included solar hot water collectors and insulated roofing and walls for the EDGE-certified homes, which are projected to save 62% of the energy that a conventional home would require. Housing de Miradores is located within the Manantiales neighborhood, a mixed-use development that provides shops, sports centers, recreational areas, a clinic and a chapel.
