Located in the small town of Melchor Ocampo in the northeast region of Mexico, Villas del Fresno contains 1,916 one and two-bedroom residential units. The housing development is located near several schools and 2.4 acres of parks with walking paths and outdoor exercise areas for residents to enjoy. Each of the six typologies at Villas del Fresno has a unique style and design, but all of them offer the efficiency and comfort of being in a green building. The units save energy and water with the help of solar hot water collectors, low-flow showerheads and more. Additionally, a conservative approach was taken to the amount of concrete and steel rebar used in floor slabs, roofing, and external walls resulting in 74% less embodied energy in materials.

Developed by Casas Krea with financing from Paladin Realty, these green features were included in the construction of Villas del Fresno at minimal cost and the developer is expected to recover their extra investment in less than two years. Residents are also projected to benefit from significant savings on their utility bills due to the efficient green features. Acalli, an apartment complex developed by Promotora Vivela S.A. de C.V. in Mexico City, Mexico has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from GBCI.

Developed by Promotora Vivela S.A. de C.V., Acalli is a two-tower residential complex comprised of 60 one and two-bedroom apartments on the historical Hacienda la Gavia street of Mexico City. The residential project seeks to blend modern architectural design, high-quality construction, and green building strategies to promote and adopt sustainable practices within Mexico’s residential building sector.

As such, Acalli’s towers feature energy-saving lighting systems and water-efficient faucets in its apartments and environmentally-friendly building materials such as honeycomb clay blocks. Because of Acalli’s green design, each household is expected to realize US$20 estimated reduction in utility costs per month.

Residents will enjoy Acalli’s amenities such as playgrounds, gardens and other open areas, as well as close proximity to recreational, commercial, educational and medical facilities such as Galerias Perinorte, Tecnológico de Monterrey and Hospital General 57.

The hotel’s architecture is inspired by timeless European design and modernity with an emphasis on resource efficiency. The hotel’s design maximizes the use of income generating spaces while minimizing operating expenses and respecting the environment. Solutions include energy-saving lighting and HVAC systems and water-efficient plumbing at no incremental construction costs. Utility savings are estimated at US$7,245 per month.

Developed by Lares Desarrollos, Cumbres Residencial is an all-inclusive condominium community located in Puebla, Mexico. The prestigious architectural firm JSa designed this project to represent Lares Desarrollos’s dedication to improving their resident’s quality of life in an environmentally responsible manner. Residents have access to extensive amenities including a gym, party rooms, kids room, playgrounds, common areas and public plaza, underground parking and access to nearby public transportation. The community’s unbeatable location is within a two block radius of a shopping center, supermarkets, a hotel, schools, two universities, and is less than a ten-minute drive from 60 percent of the jobs in the city of Puebla. Inmobiliaria Vinte’s Real Granada brings 56, two-bedroom green apartments to the housing market in Tecámac, Mexico. Each of the apartments in the 5,149m2 development features energy-saving lighting, a heat pump for hot water generation, low-flow showerheads and more. With these and many other green features, tenants save nearly one-half of their monthly utility bills and a reduction in emissions of about 1.1tCO2 per year, per household. 

Inmobiliaria Vinte is dedicated to improving their tenant’s quality of life by building more efficient housing with positive economic and environmental impacts. “Our goal is to continue to improve our product and create great communities.
