Bluewater Lagos

Bluewater Lagos

A joint venture between the African Capital Alliance (ACA) and Elalan Group, Bluewater Lagos is a three-phase, mixed-use development in the Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos. The first phase of the project is a 17-story residential tower, Sapphire, with ground floor ancillary spaces, a swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, a children’s playground, and a landscaped recreational park.

Residents of Sapphire’s 124 units will benefit from the resource-efficient design of the building, lowering their carbon footprint and saving on utility bills. Thermal performance glass, energy-efficient lighting and cooling systems will reduce the apartment’s energy use, while low-flow faucets and dual flush water closets will reduce the apartment’s water consumption.

ACA, a leading investment firm in Sub-Saharan Africa, is committed to the sustainable development of the region. The firm is partnering with the Elalan Group, a construction and civil engineering firm that is passionate about delivering innovative solutions to its clients. Together, they are determining the resource-efficient technologies that are best suited to their customers, for the benefit of the environment.

Bluewater Lagos has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from thinkstep-SGS.

Peridot Parkland Estate

Peridot Parkland Estate, located in Lagos, Nigeria, has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from thinkstep-SGS.

Peridot Parkland Estate

Dedicated to addressing the affordable housing crisis, EchoStone provides solutions that rapidly deliver sustainable housing to low and middle-income communities around the world. Peridot Parkland Estate, located in Lagos, represents the first 251 houses that Echostone has constructed in Africa. EchoStone plans to construct a total of 182,000 EDGE-certified homes by 2023.

The construction of Peridot Parkland Estate reflects EchoStone’s commitment to public-private partnerships which is the cornerstone of their inaugural project. Partners like the Swedish architectural firm Tengbom, which was ranked the fourth most innovative architectural firm in the world according to Fast Company, contributed to the resource-efficient design of Peridot Parkland Estate. Each of the two-bedroom homes in the community feature low-flow faucets, energy-saving lighting, and more, reducing the use of water and energy in each unit.

The EchoStone Housing System also contributes to the building’s resource-efficiency through its innovative construction methods. Each building is constructed using cellular lightweight concrete (CLC) that outperforms traditional construction materials. The EchoStone machine, coined “concrete-factory-on-wheels”, distributes concrete into lightweight plastic forms, which can then be reused hundreds of times. This system provides a more durable monolithic structure and ongoing cost savings to homeowners through lower utility bills. EchoStone substitutes heavy machinery with paradigm-shifting technologies, also providing greater employment opportunities for the local construction sector. This ultimately produces high-quality, resource-efficient homes without compromising on affordability

Peridot Parkland Estate has received EDGE Advanced certification from thinkstep-SGS. For more information, read a case study provided by EchoStone.
