Equites Park Riverfields is a mixed office and operations complex located in the Riverfields development area, a fast-growing logistics node in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, South Africa. It is comprised of three workshops, a machine test track, and head office.

Equites Park was developed by Equites Property Fund for Sandvik, a global mining and technology company. All four sub-projects comprising Equites Park Riverfields have achieved preliminary EDGE Advanced certification, incorporating resource-efficient technologies such as roof insulation, low-e glassing, energy-saving lightbulbs, and water-efficient plumbing fixtures as well as solar photovoltaics covering 55% of total energy use. These technologies will lower the facility’s operating costs as well as reduce its carbon footprint.

Equites Property Fund, the developer of the industrial park, is committed to incorporating sustainable practices into its developments. Equites Property Fund has also EDGE-certified warehouses at its Lords View and Meadowview developments. Ecolution also performed EDGE Expert and EDGE Auditor services for this project.

Green Court and Stepney Green


Green Court and Stepney Green is a mixed-use development with 357 affordable housing units and a small retail space in Cape Town. The development’s residents will enjoy the ideal location, which is close to public transportation and other amenities.

The development’s one and two-bedroom units were designed to conserve natural resources. External shading devices, solar hot water collectors, LED lighting, and low-flow plumbing fixtures were installed to reduce the residences’ energy and water usage. Smart Meters were also installed to help the residents track their resource consumption, helping them save each month with utility bills.

International Housing Solutions (IHS), a South African private equity investor focused on the development of affordable green housing, developed Green Court and Stepney Green with Dalmar Construction serving as the contractor. 88 of the units have been sold, while 269 of the units will be retained as rental stock to serve the affordable housing market in the Parklands community of Cape Town.

IHS invests in green affordable housing projects located close to job opportunities, transport corridors, and other amenities such as schools, in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. IHS has also certified Devland Gardens, Waterfall Park, Candlewood Crescent, Village (Clubview), and The Residence, with EDGE.

Green Court and Stepney Green has received final EDGE certification from the Green Building Council of South Africa.

Smart meters were also installed to help residents track their resource consumption.

International Housing Solutions (IHS), a South African private equity investor focused on the development of affordable green housing, developed The Residence with Dalmar Construction serving as the contractor. IHS will retain all units as rental stock to be managed by I.H.S. Property Management. Residents will learn the benefits of living in a green, EDGE-certified unit and will save money each month from lower utility bills.
