iHub Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center – Ain Shams University
EDGE Advanced
iHub Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center is an educational project developed by Ain Shams University. Located in Abbasiya, Cairo, it comprises a building with total floor space of 7,583 square meters, developed to be the first EDGE Advanced-certified building in Egypt.
The project is part of the university’s aim toward increasing the awareness for SDGs, enhancing the quality of education and innovation and creativity processes, and creating a complimentary environment for everyone seeking innovation. The building features lecture halls, seminar halls, workshops, offices, meeting rooms allowing creative minds to take their projects from idea to reality.
The project has achieved their certification by incorporating energy-efficiency features such as insulation of roof and external walls, low-E-coated glass and highly efficient air conditioning systems as well as water-saving plumbing features and the partial re-using of existing building elements, thereby reducing the energy embodied in construction materials.
