The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has entered into an agreement with HDFC Capital Advisors to anchor a $1 billion (about Rs 8,770 crore) real estate fund focused on green affordable housing in India.

The facility is designed with sustainability in focus, holding LEED Platinum and IFC EDGE Advanced Pre-Certification. The infrastructure is adaptable and scalable, with collaborative spaces aimed at fostering industry connectivity.

Under this agreement, IFC EDGE will offer technical expertise, conduct knowledge sessions, and provide free training programs on green building standards. Additionally, developers with EDGE-certified projects will gain exposure at regional industry events.

IFC will also offer a performance-based incentive of up to $2.9 million through the UK-IFC Market Accelerator for Green Construction (MAGC) program to support green building design and construction, certified under IFC’s EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) standard.

In addition, IFC will support Axis Bank in expanding its green buildings portfolio and provide a performance-based incentive of up to $2.9 million through the UK-IFC Market Accelerator for Green Construction program. This aims to support the design and certification of green buildings under IFC’s EDGE standard.
