EDGE webinar: New Decarbonisation Pathways & Retrofit Planning for Portfolios

In this knowledge session, experts from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank, will demonstrate their two tools that offer tangible, practical steps for real estate portfolio decarbonization and retrofit planning. They will showcase the free EDGE web-tool and a new decarbonization pathway & retrofit planning tool that IFC has developed recently to help real estate portfolios plan their retrofits around target decarbonization pathways. With certified projects in 89 countries, EDGE is a tech-enabled, green building certification (and web-tool) that is focused on energy and carbon performance of new and existing buildings.

EDGE is recognized globally by all leading green-finance and benchmarking institutions like GRESB, ICMA, Climate Bonds Initiative amongst others and is aligned with the EU taxonomy requirements. The system is laser-focused on resource efficiency while being highly scalable and locally relevant across geographies and building typologies. Its robust technology platform enables EDGE to be cost and time efficient, while enhancing the effectiveness. Its key features include a financial calculator that helps estimate the incremental cost of greening and its payback period and direct reporting of carbon emission as well as carbon savings – a key requirement for planning and managing decarbonization pathways. Here are some banks and developers/asset managers that have been using EDGE.

The new EDGE decarbonization pathway & retrofit planning tool for portfolios (beta version) helps portfolio owners:

  1. Set decarbonization targets,
  2. Plan an optimum retrofit schedule for buildings, and,
  3. Track the actual carbon performance of portfolios.
