Mucman Tower is a premium apartment and office building in the González Suárez district of Quito. Residents of Mucman Tower will enjoy views of the surrounding city and tropical vegetation from the building’s terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Designed to be a fusion between science and art, the building will combine resource-efficient technologies with modern luxurious design. The building’s windows will feature automatic openings that allow excellent ventilation without compromising on thermal comfort. Reflective tiles on the roof, solar hot water collectors and a heat pump for hot water generation will contribute to the building’s energy savings, while a rainwater harvesting system and dual-flush water closets will contribute to the building’s water savings.
The developer of this project, Mucman Construcciones S.A., is building Mucman Tower to serve as an example of resource-efficiency and contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
Mucman Tower has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from GBCI.
Predicted Savings of EDGE Certification
Less Embodied Energy in Materials
Reflective paint/tiles and insulation for the roof and external walls, low-e coated glass for the windows, energy-saving lighting for internal and external spaces, lighting controls for corridors and staircases, a heat pump for hot water generation and solar hot water collectors.
Low-flow showerheads and faucets for kitchen sinks and washbasins, water-efficient single flush water closets and a rainwater harvesting system.
In-situ waffle concrete slabs for the roof and floor slabs and medium weight hollow concrete blocks for internal and external walls.
*Part of the energy efficiency percentage may be associated with virtual energy for comfort depending on the presence of heating and cooling systems. Note that virtual energy does not contribute savings to utility bills.
