Vilnius Fabijoniskes by Lidl
In February 2018, Lidl Lietuva certified its entire stock of 35 retail stores and a logistics center in Lithuania with EDGE. Vilnius Fabijoniskes, one of its first branded stores to receive EDGE certification, has energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems, water-efficient water closets and taps, and charging stations for e-cars and e-bicycles. The store is located in an urban area of Vilnius with easy transportation for pedestrians and car owners as well.
Lidl Lietuva has made a huge effort to reduce its CO2 emissions and increase its water savings throughout the life cycle of its stores. The socially responsible company has made a commitment for others to follow, demonstrating the importance of delivering on a sustainable brand.

Lidl’s stores in Lithuania are located in Alytus, Jonava, Kaunas, Kėdainiai, Klaipėda, Kretinga, Marijampolė, Mažeikiai, Panevėžys, Plungė, Šiauliai, Tauragė, Telšiai, Ukmergė, Utena and Vilnius, with the logistics center located in Kaunas. The company, which is owned by the Schwarz Group, plans to continue certification of its projects in other European countries with EDGE, totaling 1,600 stores in all.
The Lidl Lietuva properties have each received final EDGE certification from the consortium of thinkstep-SGS.

Less Embodied Energy in Materials
Reduced window to wall ratio, insulation of roof and walls, energy-efficient VRV cooling system, variable frequency drives in air handling units, sensible heat recovery from exhaust air, CO2 sensor/demand controlled ventilation for fresh air intake, energy-saving lighting, and occupancy sensors in bathrooms.
Dual flush for water closets, water-efficient urinals, aerators and auto-shut-off faucets in all bathrooms, and water-efficient kitchen faucets.
Hollow core precast slab for floors, steel-clad sandwich panel for roof construction, steel-clad sandwich panel and autoclaved aerated concrete blocks for external walls, autoclaved aerated concrete blocks and plasterboards on metal studs with insulation for internal walls, and finished concrete flooring.
*Part of the energy efficiency percentage may be associated with virtual energy for comfort depending on the presence of heating and cooling systems. Note that virtual energy does not contribute savings to utility bills.
