What are EDGE Champions?
EDGE Champions are organizations that collaborate with IFC to accelerate the adoption of green building options. The distinction is given at an organizational level, but each EDGE Champion has a point person working with the EDGE Team.
Champions are developers or asset owners who publicly commit to:
- Meet conditions by agreeing to:
- OPTION 1: Certify at least 80% of their real estate portfolio (owned/leased) OR
- OPTION 2: Certify at least 1 million square meters of floor area
- Publicly state and
Champions must submit an annual report detailing certified progress and compliance to maintain their status. Apply here to be recognized.
What are the benefits of becoming an EDGE Champion?
Organizations partnering with IFC may receive the following benefits:
- Training for your staff and/or partners on the principles and applications of the EDGE software, standard, and certification system, and its value to building investors, developers, builders, and buyers.
- Technical support on as-needed basis for complex projects.
- Global exposure on the EDGE website, as part of a dedicated Champions page.
- Recognition – The EDGE recognizes the companies in several special ways, including a listing on the EDGE Buildings website and social, highlighted on the IFC channels, and are awarded publicly at various events and conferences around the world.
- Social media campaigns through LinkedIn, Instagram, X and Facebook, reaching almost 100,000 followers worldwide.
- Project marketing support to better explain green benefits to end customers.
- Branding association with the IFC and the World Bank Group.
- Exposure to Investors: Champions benefit from the close relationship they develop with IFC’s regional and global team members. We can help champions identify sources for investment, whether from IFC, other development institutions, or commercial lenders who invest in EDGE certified projects.
IFC recognizes EDGE Champions on the EDGE website, dependent on the individual Champion’s reach, which may be global, regional, or country-specific.
How will my organization communicate our commitment to EDGE?
IFC will assist in placing a statement on your organization’s website and/or issuing a press release. IFC staff will guide you through these steps with customizable templates
How will IFC recognize my organization’s commitment to EDGE?
IFC recognizes EDGE Champions on the EDGE website and periodically includes a spotlight on them through communication channels, stories of impact, and case studies presented at international conferences. IFC also assists EDGE Champions in being featured in international sustainability awards.
Interested in joining?
EDGE Champions commit to significant promotion of the EDGE software, standard, and certification system in their operations. In turn, IFC will support the organization by issuing an official Champions certificate, support with press release, participate a signing ceremony, invitations to exclusive gatherings such as the champions summit, and more.
