The Eden
The Eden is a mixed-use development with 194 affordable housing units and a small retail space in Cape Town. The development’s homeowners will enjoy the ideal location: close to public transportation and other amenities.
The development was designed to conserve natural resources. External shading devices, solar hot water collectors, LED lighting, and low-flow plumbing fixtures were installed to reduce the residences energy and water usage. Smart Meters were also installed to help the homeowners track their resource consumption, helping them save each month with utility bills.
International Housing Solutions (IHS), a South African private equity investor focused on the development of affordable green housing, developed The Eden with Dalmar Construction serving as the contractor.
IHS invests in green affordable housing projects located close to job opportunities, transport corridors, and other amenities such as schools, in South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana. IHS has also certified Devland Gardens, Waterfall Park, Candlewood Crescent, Village (Clubview), and The Residence with EDGE.
The Eden has received final EDGE certification from the Green Building Council of South Africa.

Hollow core precast slab for the floor and roof, steel sheets on timber rafters for the roof, solid dense concrete blocks for internal and external walls, and ceramic tile flooring.
