Hotel Zona Franca Bogotá D.C.
Situated in the heart of Bogotá’s Free Trade Zone, the Hotel Zona Franca Bogotá D.C. is strategically located in an industrial park near more than 223 businesses, from automakers to biotechnology companies. The Free Trade Zone is a 96-hectare area in the southwestern part of the city. The zone offers tax and customs benefits to companies in a business-friendly environment that limits barriers to entry for new enterprises. The six-floor hotel will open under the brand Ramada Encore, which is operated by Wyndham, and will have 87 rooms with a restaurant, shops and offices.
Developed in partnership between Grupo Contempo and OIKOS Constructora, Hotel Zona Franca Bogotá conserves natural resources and expects to reduce operational costs by over $1,200 per month. The hotel reduces energy use by foregoing air-conditioning and instead using features like external shading devices and insulation to naturally cool the rooms. Water is conserved with the help of low-flow showerheads and dual flush water closets. The developers also carefully chose resource-efficient construction materials such as honeycomb clay blocks, which contribute to the reduction of embodied energy in materials by 52%.
Grupo Contempo designs, builds and manages hotels, offices, warehouses and homes that are environmentally sustainable. Since 1969 the company has completed over 60 projects. OIKOS Constructora has over 40 years of experience designing innovative projects with exceptional quality and comfort, while also preserving each project’s natural environment as much as possible. Both companies are committed to developing projects that conserve natural resources, generate economic savings and protect the planet.
Hotel Zona Franca Bogotá D.C. has received a preliminary EDGE certificate from CAMACOL.
